Hoorah! Managed to figure out how to change the side bar stuff today. The links and lists are a work-in-progress at the moment.
Ordered Tony Benn's speech/street music crossover cd (!).
The latest bright idea to come from Burleigh management to boost achievement is... to sit the students in alphabetical order. The idea, I think, is to aid concentration and classroom control by removing people from their friends and showing the rabble whose boss in this classroom. The effect, of course, will be to alienate students by making them do disagreeable things for no good reason, and possibly putting them at risk by seating them with students that want to bully them. Why can't school management show some compassion? Oh I forgot, it's because compassion is incompatible with targets and career progression in today's schools.
